JUDY  WILLIAMS

Committed to your well-being

I am a psychoanalytically trained psychotherapist and an Occupational Therapist based in Manchester, specialising in working with adults, couples, students, children and adolescents. With over 40 years experience in the field of mental health, I have worked extensively within and alongside the NHS.

In addition to my psychotherapy practice I offer consultations to organisations providing health and social care, and I am an experienced clinical supervisor.

I provide psychotherapy services both face-to-face and online serving clients nationally, and online for international clients.

Within Mind

I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) registered Attachment-Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, specialising in working with adults and couples. I am also a member of The Bowlby Centre.

In addition to my primary practice, I am a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) and a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Occupational Therapist.

With extensive experience in Maternal Mental Health  and I am also a member of The Association for Infant Mental Health UK (AiMH UK).

My approach to psychotherapy is predominantly psychodynamic, and I am highly adaptive incorporating attachment-based and relational perspectives. I focus on understanding and engaging with the narratives that individuals bring, tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each client.

I have considerable experience in working with individuals, couples and families who come with concerns which are causing them anxiety. Please visit the Why Psychotherapy? section to find out more about the areas in which I can offer assistance.

I am also a member of the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation (ESTD) and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD). I have presented at the annual conferences for the ESTD (2012 and 2019) and the ISSTD (2012), and I have served as a visiting speaker for the The Bowlby Centre and The Clinic for Dissociative Studies on the "Advanced Working with Dissociation in Clinical Practice from an Attachment Perspective" course.

I am a Consultant Specialist Psychotherapist with CDS UK (Clinic for Dissociative Studies). Over the past 25 years I have worked closely with the CDS UK (Clinic for Dissociative Studies) to develop and deliver comprehensive psychotherapeutic care and treatment for adults, children and young people with dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder, trauma-related complex needs and intellectual (learning) disability.

As a former Associate Psychotherapist with The Pottergate Centre for Dissociation and Trauma, I bring additional specialised expertise in addressing complex trauma and dissociative disorders to my practice.
